About Victoria McGowan (She/Her)
Victoria predominantly works with adult and adolescent clients.
Victoria was born in Perth, Western Australia. Motivated by a keen interest to understand human behaviour and well being, Victoria completed two degrees at the University of Western Australia - a Bachelor of Health Science (majoring in Psychology) and a Bachelor of Psychology. Victoria then went on to complete a Diploma in School Psychology. In the 10 years since University, Victoria has worked in the mental health sector as a research assistant, program coordinator, mental health manager and Psychologist. Victoria has extensive experience working with adolescents and adults from all walks of life.
Victoria strongly believes in working in partnership with a client to achieve their goals; focusing on the cause of a clients mental health issues rather than just treating the symptoms. Victoria believes this helps to prevent further mental health issues and results in long term mental health improvements.
Victoria has an open mind when it comes to her clients, understanding that everyone is different and requires a unique approach. Victoria has a strong appetite for implementing evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.
